This was a significant trip for our Federation, as our Year 5 and 6 cohort embarked on their first ever school residential trip to Aylmerton Outdoor Education Centre in Norfolk, and what a success it was! Everyone had a wonderful, memorable time! Our pupils did us very proud.
Monday 26th January
We began our exciting residential by saying goodbye to our families and travelling by coach to Aylmerton Outdoor Education Centre. After settling into our rooms and having lunch, we jumped straight into activities, including high ropes, team challenges and fire building.
In the evening, we enjoyed a memorable Twilight Safari, exploring the woods in the dark, visiting a church, and even encountering a bat!
Tuesday 27th January
We started the day early with team-building activities and outdoor cooking, making and enjoying our own vegetable soup.
In the afternoon, we visited Cromer for a town trail, solving clues to unlock a special treat. Despite the rain, we worked brilliantly as teams. We also explored Cromer Church, noticing its size and beautiful features. The day ended with a fun-filled game of Wacky Bingo.
Wednesday 28th January
We visited Horsey Beach, where we were thrilled to see many seals. Later, we travelled to Sea Palling for lunch, a beach visit and a fascinating story session. In the afternoon, we took a boat trip on the Norfolk Broads, spotting wildlife including two otters. In the evening, we enjoyed a lively disco!
Thursday 29th January
We became fossil hunters at West Runton, finding belemnites and learning about coastal erosion.
In the afternoon, we completed a “Monster Hunt,” using maps and compasses to navigate a 3.75-mile walk. We ended the day with an exciting trip to the bowling alley.
Friday 30th January
On our final day, we took part in sensory challenges and built woodland shelters. After celebrating the tidiest rooms, we said our goodbyes and returned home, tired but full of fantastic memories.
Today marked the start of Anti-Bullying Week and we began in the best way — by wearing our odd socks!
Odd Socks Day is all about celebrating what makes each of us unique. It’s a fun reminder that our differences should be celebrated, not used as an excuse for bullying.
Let’s spread kindness, stand up for one another and show that it’s cool to be kind!
On Friday, our Year 6 children visited the local war memorial to place crosses in remembrance.
During their visit, they took time to reflect on the courage and sacrifice of those who have served and continue to serve in wars and conflicts around the world.
Together, they remembered the brave men, women and animals who fought in wars long ago, as well as those who still serve today. The children also thought of the many lives lost and the families who waited and continue to wait at home.
Following their time at the memorial, the pupils visited the Church where they were able to see a remarkable display created by two members of our community — a beautiful knitted tribute to honour those who have served and still serve today.
They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning.
We will remember them.

Last week, everyone enjoyed taking part in our annual Welly Wang event, and the children at Wrestlingworth also had a lovely time on their Autumn walk.
