Fox Class (Year 2)

Welcome to Fox Class

In year 2, we continue to build on the learning foundations created in the Early years and Year 1. Over the year we will develop and deepen our understanding of number, geometry, fractions and statistics in maths. Our learning in English is based on high quality, inspiring texts and will see us writing a range of fiction and non-fiction pieces focussing more carefully on language choices and punctuation. In Science, we continue to develop our enquiry skills, thinking more about making predictions and asking scientific questions whilst learning about ourselves and the world around us.

Our engaging projects across the foundation subjects include ‘Bright Lights, Big City’, ‘Chop, Slice and Mash’ and ‘School Days’. The children will learn about exciting topics that build skills and knowledge in a thematic way, allowing them to make connections and comparisons across the subjects of history, geography, art and design and technology. We will also grow our computer literacy skills by learning about spreadsheets, coding and online safety. In RE, we will discuss key questions linked to Christianity, Judaism and Islam such as, Why was Jesus given the name ‘Saviour’?

Year 2 is a very important year as the children end their time in Key Stage 1, beginning to prepare for Key Stage 2 and moving on to Year 3 at Dunton Junior School. As the eldest pupils here at Wrestlingworth Infant School, they will learn to become more responsible, resilient and supportive for their younger peers. We can’t wait to see the children grow into these roles and have fun learning with them!
