To build the strongest possible governing team, we are seeking people from diverse backgrounds and experiences. We are currently recruiting for:
- A Chair of Governors
- Governor with Financial Expertise
- Foundation Governors – active members of the church and community who help uphold the schools’ Christian ethos
We welcome individuals with:
- Experience in school governance
- Chairing or leadership experience
- Knowledge of education or school settings
Why become a governor?
The role offers significant personal and professional benefits, including:
- Developing valuable skills such as strategic planning, chairing, financial management, governance, and teamwork
- Building relationships and networks within the local community
- Gaining deeper knowledge of our schools and contributing to the lives of local children and young people
Time Commitment
- 5 meetings per year (approximately 3 hours each), held online
- 2–3 in-person meetings per year with the link governor area you support
- Additional involvement with school leaders for the Chair of Governors role

Calling all finance experts!
Dunton and Wrestlingworth Schools Federation is looking for people with a finance skill set to join our friendly and active governing board. There is no requirement to have any current or prior connection to the schools.
The below description explains what we are looking for in terms of knowledge and skills and duties to be fulfilled:
Desired skills and knowledge
– Knowledge of economics and accounting
– Business management skills
– Analytical thinking skills
– Budget planning experience
Board Duties
– Part of finance committee, with a view to leading meetings and updating Full Governing Board (FGB) at each meeting (4 meetings per year of two hours).
– Attendance at FGB meetings (4 meetings per year of two hours).
– Review of school budgets, working with Senior Leadership Team (SLT) and bursar
– Drafts, with SLT, the pay policy
– Inputs to preparing draft budgets, annual planning and forecasts and financial reports to Central Bedfordshire Council (CBC) and other interested parties
– Oversight of income and expenditure, working closely with SLT and Personnel committee
